LNJ Denim -“Awareness Session on Quality Circles & 5 S”

 

Learning & Development is a lifelong process. Keeping this in mind, an awareness session on “Quality Circle & 5 S” was conducted at Spinning Conference Hall on 07th February, 2018 by Shri S K Agarwal & Shri Vinod Purohit, participated by Senior Staff of Denim & Fabric units.

The session received a good response and the content were appreciated by the participant. A session in observing seriousness in participant regarding moto of “5S” and “Quality Circle” in regular working style was conducted. In the end, it turned out to be a good learning experience on how to work in a team .

BSL: Emergency Response Program

 

With aim to spreading awareness and to check alertness / response of emergency team , The Safety Officer, Shri Ram Milan Singh has checked / conducted “ Emergency Response Program ” according to the available Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan on 24th January, 2018 with the help of administration. Respective Emergency  Rescue Team / Security Team / Engineering Team have played their good role according to the preferred scenario.

BSL: National Safety Week

 

The 47th National Safety Week from 05th March to 12th March, 2018 distinguished in BSL Limited, Bhilwara, The Company organized the various types of training programmes at Mandpam Plant to create safety awareness among their working peoples.

It is celebrated with great enthusiasm to make aware the people about how to get prevented from the industrial accidents by widespread safety awareness programs because number of persons loses their lives every year in our country in industrial accidents, causing loss of human lives and property and trauma to the family of the deceased or loses/damaged of body parts.

As a part of an awareness campaign on  “National Safety Week” is observed throughout India under the guidance of the Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India, in order to highlight and emphasize the need for safety in industry/ Workplace by taking up activities to promote the concept. In this regard, BSL Limited organized safety awareness training programmes from 05th to 12th March, 2018 to educate all working peoples and contractual workmen who are involved directly or indirectly in our business.

On this occasion, we have briefed most effective safety measures during every training to our workforce and our target is zero harm not only in the workplace / premises even out the site but also in every body’s day-to-day life. Observing such a week - long event really puts the work in our mind that “ safety is everything ”.

 

The event is successfully organized/conducted with the support of various departments’ heads/personnel and the following points were covered during safety Training programmes.

  • Raise awareness about the societal/national impact of industrial injuries.

  • Highlighting the risks of working with machinery and others routine jobs.

  • Focused on the safety of Man, Machine, and Materials.

  • Construction and Electrical safety awareness. Also covered road safety awareness.

  • Promote action around key factors which have a major impact on preventing industrial incidents :

  • Industrial Health & Safety Management, Lifting Tools & Tackles, Requirement of Fire etc.

On 12th March, Final Safety Awareness Programme was organized in the classroom for senior staff /officials. Our Chief Guest, Shri A.K. Mehta, Vice President- Processing Division  also delivered their valuable suggestions and steps to all for implementing at our own work site because safety is everyone responsibility.

Shri R.K. Katyal, Vice President (Weaving Division) appealed to all for incorporating to necessary safety measures and doing work analysis before starting any work.

Shri Anil Kumar Agarwal, Dy.General Manager - IR has given a vote of thanks to all participants, HODs, Seniors and Safety Officer for making grand successful 47th National Safety Week, 2018 at our BSL plant.

BSL: Training of trainers

 

The textile sector skill council organized a One-day training program of a trainer who is in RSLDC program. Total 17 participated from different textile industries. Sh. Santosh Behra was the assessor from the textile sector council. During the training, all coordinator from LNJ Skill,  Shri Parmeshwar Ojha, Shri Pushpendra Singh and Shri Prerak Mishra were also present. 

Mandpam: Fire Fighting & Use of Fire Hydrant System

A training programme on Fire Safety & use of Fire Hydrant System was organized at Mandpam Unit on 19th March, 2018. The main objective was to create awareness for use of fire hydrant systems at the time of the fire. Mr. Anil Bishnoi, Executive (Fire & Safety) was the faculty for this training programme.

Bagalur: ETI Program

Ethical Training awareness programme was organized for workers & Staff on 05.01.2018. Programme named as "NALAM", which handle the occupational health & awareness about the industrial life  is conducted by Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI), especially for the women workers at Bagalur unit, 

Bagalur: Fire Drill Training

The Security department at Bagalur unit organized a training program on fire drill on 28th January,2018. The training program was conducted by Mr. Chandramohan (Chief Security Officer) which was attended by 12 Security Officers. The main objective of this training program was to understand the chemistry of fire, detect and fight different types of fire with the help of fire extinguisher during an emergency and how to respond in such situations. The training program has helped all the participants to gain substantial knowledge about fire safety & various methods to control it to save life and property.

Rishabhdev: Quarterly Performance Review

The Power Point Presentation of the Performance review for the quarter October-December, 2017 was held in January, 2018 at Rishabhdev.  After seeing the performance data of each department, the COO appreciated the efforts put in by the staff for the accomplishments and achievements. However, he has cautioned that 2017-18 so far was not good from the profitability point of view. The market condition is not in favor of the industry.

We have to do a lot of hard work/efforts to overcome this sluggish period.

Rishabhdev: Chess & Carrom Tournament

The 2nd Group level Tournament of  Chess & Carrom was held at Rishabhdev on 22nd & 23rd January 2018. 58 players participated in the championship from Kharigram, Lodha, BMD, Denim, Fabric, Mandpam, TPP, BSL, ADHPL & HEG.

Kharigram Unit has won the Carrom Team Championship under the Captainship of Shri Rajeev Jain, Business Head – Operations (Yarn Business).  HEG, Mandideep was the Runners. Carrom single event was won by Shri Rajeev Jain and Shri Gopal Lal Chipa was the Runner. Both are from Kharigram Unit.   Carrom Double event was also won by Khrigram and HEG was the Runner.

Shri Vijay Thapa of HEG has been adjudged as the emerging player in Carrom and Shri Bhupendra Mangania for Chess.

Shri Shailesh Surana, SDM, Rishabhdev was the Chief Guest during the opening ceremony. Shri Rajiv Jain and Shri K B Khatod were the guests of honor. Trophies and Meritorious Certificates were distributed to the Winners, Runners and consolation prizes to all the participants during the presentation ceremony. Rishabhdev team has got appreciation from the participants for their efforts to make the Championship as a wonderful and memorable event.

Rishabhdev: Quality Life Workshop

 

A two days programme on Quality Life was held at Rishabhdev in February, 2018. Twenty workers of village Chikla with their spouses  participated in the workshop. Shri K. S. Yadav, Regional Director & Shri Punit Goutam from CBWE, Udaipur conducted the programme which ended with a closing session on 16th February attended by the COO and senior officers of the unit.

Kharigram: Training on Failure Mode & Effect Analysis

A training programme on FMEA (Failure Mode & Effect Analysis) was given by Sh Vinod Purohit, Dy. Manager (CTS Cell). A group of 40 staff was covered in this programme. They learned to identify all possible failures in products or services with the purpose of taking action to eliminate or reduce failures, starting with high priority.

Kharigram: Awareness Training Program for ISO 55001(Asset Management)

Our units are under a process of implementation of ISO 55001(Asset Management) in coming months. With a view of one level up to our system and standards under the guidance of Dr. SK Aggarwal, Sr.VP, CTS Cell, an awareness training program on Asset Management (ISO 55001) was organized on 20th January, 2018 at Kharigram. Sh Ashok Kapur –Trainer from BSI took the session for the entire day in which participant from various units of RSWM (Kharigram, Rishabhdev, Mandpam, Kanyakheri and Denim) attended the session and learned about its management and implementation at each stage.

Kharigram: Training on Work Place Safety

An awareness cum training programme on workplace safety was organized on 8th  February, 2018 which was presented by Sh. Dileep Chourasia, Safety Officer. Officers of Engineering, Maintenance, Security, Commercial and Production departments were covered in this programme. The topics covered -Fire Fighting, Safety at Work Place, Chemical Handling, Tools Handling etc. He educated to all personnel to follow safety rules.

Kharigram: Training on Effective Communication

A Training cum awareness programme on Effective Communication, which is a series of Experiential Learning Program was organized on 13th Feb 2018. Sh Ashish Kumar Pandey, DGM (HR) explained the various methods of communication and demonstrated their effectiveness through games to staff members. All Managers were covered in this programme and they got benefited. The program was appreciated by all.

Kharigram: Training on Inventory Management

 

A training cum awareness programme on Inventory Management organized on 12th March, 2018 in which Sh Sanjai Sharma, DGM (Stores & Purchase) explained about types of inventories & inventory in the financial statement,  various methods of inventory management with live examples. The 50 staff members benefited from this programme and It was appreciated by all.

HEG: Autonomous Maintenance Drive at Tawa

On the path of continuous improvement & routing towards operational excellence, Autonomous Maintenance drive is initiated at Tawa works. To initiate this, a project is started where, machines are identified & their Cleaning, Lubricating, Inspection, Repairing & Tightening schedule/calendar is set up along with efficacy & visual controls. The measurable performance is identified & the controls are ensured. This drive will not only help to improve the performance/up-keeping but also will act as a platform for knowledge sharing / interacting for exchanging the ideas.

HEG: Workshop on Culture Building for Workmen

In order to strengthen the cultural/behavioral aspects among workmen, L&D Team initiated a series of a workshop - “Manthan-Swa Prabandhan”, initiated in Jan-18, rolled out its 1st Batch. Till date around 25% workmen have been covered in this series. This monthly workshop addresses cultural issues and their remedies, teamwork, discipline, communication, motivation, knowledge sharing and mutual respect through small group exercises, presentations and discussions. 100% workmen coverage are targeted this FY 18-19, so that the learnings may be cascaded to every person working on the shop floor. Shri Arvind Sarvate –Zen Academy, Indore is facilitating this workshop.

HEG: Session on “Finance for Non-Finance Executives”

In an ongoing process of Individual Development Plans which are prepared in-line with the needs and requirements of employees assessed through BEIs and HOD’s inputs, a lot of developmental activities are being scheduled and carried out. One of the major essentials for employees working as Managers and Section Heads in their respective Areas is having Awareness of Financial aspects in their scope of work.

HR - L & D organized a workshop named “Finance for Non-Finance Executives”, our COO, Shri Raju Rustogi spared his valuable time in enlightening the employees and provided some practical tips on improvement in knowledge-based of all, he also involved the participants in discussions and cleared the participant’s doubts through examples and suggestions.

HEG: Workshop on Bar Coding (Traceability)

 

Working on improvements in shop-floors real-time bottlenecks, HR - L & D continued the drive-thru knowledge sharing sessions for the workmen & shift in-charges, where they are taught the basics of traceability of our products (electrodes & nipples) during their process-wise improvements.

Our IT team along with plant senior officials developed an in-house technique for the traceability which has resolved the major issues regarding product movement.

HEG: Labour Laws, POSH & WBP & OHSAS Session at Tawa

 

Employees who are regularly in touch with workmen and deals with contract labours on daily basis needs to be aware of basic labour laws. For understanding legal obligations to employees and the differences between the right and wrong practices, HR L & D organized a workshop for Tawa team which was facilitated by Sh. Narendra Singh, AGM (HR & IR), the facilitator covered various aspects of Labour Act which include Registration of Establishment, Licensing of Contractors & Mandatory documents to be maintained by establishment and Contractor. A doubt clearing session, which made the entire session effective and useful for all. Also, separate sessions in Tawa were conducted on OHSAS by Sh. Surendra Sharma, Manager (ESLI) and awareness session on POSH & WBP was conducted by Sh. Pradhyumn Thakur, Executive(HR).

Maral Sarovar: Advanced First – Aid Training

 

To improve the Rescue skill of Employees, Advanced First Aid Training Program has been organized at Maral Overseas Limited at Maral Sarovar on February 15th & 16th, 2018. The Training program conducted by Momentum India Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi & approx-130 Nos. of employees from various sections attended the program in two sessions. Advanced First Aid Practices for Major Industrial injuries and diseases have been explained to the employees through PPT presentation, Video Films and Practical Demonstration.           

MPCL: Commencement of Sewing Training Center under MPCL women Empowerment Program

 

To empower women socially and financially, MPCL has been running sewing & tailoring training center for 6 months now. The aim is to train women so that they are financially empowered. The second phase of training at Jari village which was concluded on 28th February, 2018. The third phase of this was sewing and a closing ceremony was organized and the best three performers during the training were rewarded by MPCL Plant In-charge. 

ADHPL: Mockdrill on Transformer Explosion in Power House

Mock drill on transformer explosion in powerhouse was conducted on 24th Jan. 2018 by ADHPL management to check the emergency preparedness planning, responses of the rescue team and effectiveness of the existing training system. The planned scenario with tentative timeline was circulated to the all concerned parties through emails and letters by post/by hand. Before execution of actual drill, a series of training and meetings with the HODs/ section in-charges and concerned staff were conducted to discuss the circulated scenario on the subject. The training and meetings were also conducted in order to define role & responsibilities of the individuals involved directly or indirectly in the mock drill.

The small hydropower plants, situated on downstream of the TRT of the ADHPL, local administration and district administration were communicated through letters, in person and telephonically to make them aware of the mock drill. The Govt. civil firefighting department, Manali and Govt. Civil Hospital, Manali participated in the mock drill. 

RSWM - CTS Cell: Safety Meeting

5th Group safety heads meeting was organized by CTS Cell at Ringas unit on 27th March, 2018. Dr S. K. Aggarwal facilitated the proceedings. Sh. Avinash Bhargava, Dy. COO, Ringas unit welcomed participants from all the units of RSWM. Safety Officers of all RSWM units presented their unit’s progress and various measures taken to enhance compliance to safety requirements. Sh. V. K. Yadav (CTS Cell) highlighted the areas of concern and advised participants to strictly comply with so as to improve the overall rating of EHS Audit. 

RSWM-CTS Cell: Group Energy Conservation Committee

Group Energy Conservation Committee (GECC) Meeting was held on 31st January, 2018 at Rishabhdev unit. This was attended by Engineers from all RSWM units and BSL. Dr S K Aggarwal facilitated the proceedings of the meeting. Sh K. B. Khatod, COO, Rishabhdev unit, welcomed all the participants and in his opening remarks highlighted the need for Energy Conservation. Engineers from all the RSWM units made their presentations covering ongoing ECPs and future plan.

RSWM-CTS Cell: Workshop on 5S

CTS Cell organized a workshop on 5S at Mandpam unit on 13th January,2018 for the benefit of all RSWM Units.  Dr. S. K. Aggarwal facilitated the proceedings. This Workshop was inaugurated by CE - Sh. S. C. Garg, he also made opening remarks highlighting the need of 5S practices in day-to-day working. Sh Vinod Purohit (CTS cell) delivered the detailed presentation, followed by individual unit presentations on 5S progress. 5S Coordinators from all the units of  RSWM attended the workshop.
