Group Chairman's Message

Group Chairman's Message

Dear All,

We belong to an industry which has been a part of our country’s economy since centuries. The textile industry provides for one of the most basic needs of people and holds importance in maintaining sustained growth for improving quality of life. We are indeed proud of the fact that India is the world’s second largest producer of textiles and LNJ Bhilwara Group has been a reliable partner and contributor to her successful textile journey since 1960.

One of the earliest to come into existence in India, the Textile Industry aims to increase its exports and metamorphose its business in the next few years. This can only be achieved if we give significant importance to modern technologies and engineering. As an industry we have really evolved over the years and today ready to take on the world. Little surprise the whole world converged to our doorstep in the Textiles India 2017 show in Gandhinagar between June 30-July 2. This was India’s first ever mega textiles fair and provided the industry and other players in this segment enormous opportunities to showcase their products and capabilities. The Prime Minister of India inaugurated the show, which further added to the charm of this event. Shri Narendra Modi said that based on Make in India, the textile industry is being infused with the mantras of 'skill, scale, speed' & 'zero-defect, zero-effect'. He added that the textile sector offers significant employment opportunities, it being the second largest employer after agriculture. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that Textiles India 2017 helps familiarize global & Indian leaders with India’s enabling policy environment, strengths & vast opportunities. Indeed it was a great occasion for the industry to celebrate.

The announcements in the Union Budget seem like offering a golden opportunity for our industry to expand itself. As the Government has shifted its focus on rejuvenating the rural and semi urban areas of India and providing them with a better lifestyle and economic improvisation, it has potentially paved the way for a huge market for textiles with potential consumers. It is expected that the domestic textile market size will expand itself considerably in the next two to three years given the new market openings in the different sections of the society.

The ‘Make in India’initiative introduced by the Government will further prove to be fruitful for India’s textile economy in the long term. It has stressed on expansion and strengthening of the Indian manufacturing sector by effective utilization of its existing resources. India has the potential to attract major global firms to invest in the country which in turn will increase employment and empower the growth and development of different sectors. The political relations with foreign countries have also fostered over the years. India is on friendly terms with many major global economies. The prospect of high street fashion and retail stores abroad planting their seeds in India is highly possible and with our country getting the tag of ‘a newly industrialized country’, it’s something we look forward to in the coming years.

We have always led the sector with pride and quality. Let’s resolve to continue doing so. I urge you all to be as spirited in your professional commitments as ever, while simultaneously taking good care of your personal obligations as well.

With best wishes,

Ravi Jhunjhunwala
