ADHPL: Women Sewing Training Centre
Focusing on women empowerment, AD Hydro Power Limited has set-up “Women Sewing Training Centre” at Village Prini as part of its CSR activity.The sewing training center was inaugurated by Shri R K Khaitan, AVP- F&A, in the presence of Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Prini, panchayat members and members of Mahila Mandal, Prini.
Approximately 70 women will be trained in the training centre. Two female trainers have been selected to conduct the training in two different sessions.
ADHPL: Emergency Preparedness Drill
ADHPL conducted a “Tier-2 mock drill on flash floods” on November 3, 2017, to check emergency preparedness, planning and responses of the rescue team. Heads of the gram panchayat and people in the vicinity, staff of the small hydro power plants located downstream and local administration participated in the mock drill. This mock drill scenario involved the sudden rise of flow in allain stream due to cloud burst in catchment area and subsequent rise in water levels. The staff was positioned at barrage control room and instructed to leave the site and move to safer locations. The areas downstream of barrage site were required to be informed and mobilized.
MPCL & ADHPL - Vidyasaarathi Scholarship Programme
MPCL & ADHPL launched an online scholarship programme by the name 'MPCL & ADHPL Vidyasaarathi Scholarship Programme'. This is a technology-enabled CSR initiative in collaboration with NSDL e-Gov and Tata Institute of Social Sciences, to bridge the gap in educational scholarship in the state of Himachal Pradesh through an online platform. Vidyasaarathi proposes to effectively bring together various stakeholders in the education ecosystem. This would help manage the entire online scholarship application lifecycle i.e. submission and review of scholarship application, award of scholarship, disbursement of funds and renewal of scholarships. Vidyasaarathi aspires to empower MPCL & ADHPL (sponsors) as well as students to develop an ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders.
MPCL: Workshops on COC, Core Values and Sexual Harassment at Workplace
Workshops on code of conduct, core values and sexual harassment of women at workplace were conducted at Malana Power Company Limited, between October 10-13, 2017. In all, a total of 80 participants were familiarized with these topics. Workshops were instigated by Shri H S Beshtoo, VP-O&M and Shri R K Khaitan, AVP-HR & Admin.
MPCL: Fire Fighting Training
Fire fighting training was imparted to the families residing in company's residential colonies at Jari Housing Complex, on October 24,2017. They were exposed to techniques associated with fire fighting, use of equipment and how to rescue injured persons.
MPCL: Fire Emergency Mock Drill
Fire emergency mock drill was conducted at MPCL power house on 23rd December 2017, which involved all the project components to test the emergency preparedness & response Planning. In between this scenario, fire fighting crew rushed the spot and fire hydrant were operated. Sh. H.S. Beshtoo,VP-O&M addressed all the participants about the importance of this drill and also appreciated the crew for effective operation of hydrants.
Lodha: Training Programme on Emotional Intelligence
Shri M P Pareek conducted a training programme on emotional intelligence. A total of 30 staff members attended the programme. The programme was much appreciated by all the participants. Shri Aditya Sharma (AGM-HR) concluded the session with an assurance that management would like to repeat such programmes at regular intervals.
Bagalur: Installation of Centralized Public Addressing Unit and Fire Alarm System
Centralized fire alarm system and public addressing unit were installed in various locations to enhance the safety system at Bagaur Unit for better communication and also to address/react during emergencies. Shri Vinod Metha (Chief Operating Officer) and Shri V V Raju (Vice President-Operations) have conveyed the importance/purpose of the installation of fire alarm and public addressing system to all the shop floor employees.
Bagalur: Safety Induction Training Pogramme
Safety induction training session was organized at Bagalur Unit, for the first batch of PMKVY Version 2, by Shri Tamil Selvam (Assistant Manager- EHS) along with Shri Jeevan Chandra Uperti from LNJ skills division. A total of 60 workers attended the programme. The attendees found the programme very useful and relevant for their respective work areas.
LNJ Denim - Art of Living Workshop, Yoga camp
A workshop on Art of Living (Happiness Programme) was held at LNJ Nagar colony, Mordi, from October 09-14, 2017, for the staff and their family members. Shri Dharmendra, a spiritual teacher of Art of Living, spoke about happiness and making life a celebration to the staff. He has taught yoga and meditation and helps people unlock their fullest potential, explains on ways to ease stress and enhance all aspects of their life and emphasized on practical tools like Sudarshan Kriya.
The workshop had a positive effect on the staff members. They were very happy after participating in this course. On the last day, a feedback session was organized in which all participants shared their experiences. They have made yoga part of their daily routine and feel happier and healthier than before.
LNJ Denim - "KAIZEN FACTORY"
For strengthening the organization, "Kaizen Factory” discussion was held in September. In the course of the discussion, eleven technical and non-technical points were identified which require improvement. On October 13, 2017, a progress and review meeting on "Kaizen Factory” was conducted in the Spinning Conference hall, Denim Unit under the guidance of Business Head Shri Prabir Bandyopadhyay. During the meeting all eleven topics were discussed and reviewed.
LNJ Denim - ITMACH Exhibition
“ITMACH” an International Textile Machinery & Accessories Exhibition (related to textile machinery, raw materials, home textiles, embroidery machines and textile products) was held between December 7-10, 2017 in Gandhinagar (Gujarat). This event showcases product from textile, fabrics and yarns industry. A team of LNJ Denim, Mordi, visited the exhibition.
Bagalur: Skill Development, PMKVY Version 2
Bagalur Unit initiated PMKVY Version 2, for 60 employees on December 20, 2017, under the “Skill Development” scheme started by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Shri Vinod Mehta (Chief Operating Officer) and Shri V V Raju (Vice President-O) addressed the meeting and explained the importance of the PMKVY. The first batch will complete this course on February 12, 2018.
Mandpam: Fire Hydrant and Mock Drill
The safety department of Mandpam Unit organized an awareness session on the use of fire hydrants and a mock drill for all the members of the plant. The session was held on December 7, 2017. It was coordinated by Shri Anil Bishnoi, Executive - Fire & Safety.
Mandpam: Industrial Safety Training
A training programme on Industrial Safety was organized by the Mandpam Unit on November 25, 2017. The main objective was to clarify why is industrial safety needed and what is it’s importance in day-to- day work. Shri Anil Bishnoi was the faculty for this training programme.
Mandpam: Programme on Deaddiction
A programme was organized on December 30, 2017, by Prajapati Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vidhyalaya, on deaddiction. The purpose of the programme was to educate and spread awareness among people about the harmful effects and serious unpleasant consequences of addiction and ways to quit addiction.
Rishabhdev: Quarterly Review Meeting
Performance Review meeting was held on October 28, 2017 for the quarter July-September 2017, at Rishabhdev. After reviewing presentations of all the departments, the COO suggested improvements wherever needed or required in his concluding remarks.
Rishabhdev: Quality Life Workshop
"Quality Life" workshops were conducted in November and December, 2017, Rishabhdev. Faculties from CBWE, Udaipur, conducted the programme which was attended by selected worker couples from nearby villages. In the concluding session of the two days programme, Shri K B Khatod, COO, and other senior officers were also present.
Rishabhdev: Supervisory Development Programme
A two-day skill development training programme for Supervisors was held at Rishabhdev on November 28-29, 2017. Shri N N Sharma from Techno-HR Consultancy & Training Services, Ghaziabad, conducted the programme. Shri K B Khatod, COO, inaugurated the session which focused on self-motivation, leadership, effective supervision, quality improvement and cost reduction, waste control, problem solving skills, etc. The programme was appreciated by people present.
Rishabhdev: Training Session
Shri M P Pareek from LNJ Skills, Bhilwara, conducted a two hour session on 'Emotional Intelligence' at Rishabhdev, on December 14, 2017. The programme was attended by senior staff members.
Rishabhdev: Workshop on Stress Management
A two-day workshop on 'Stress Management & Common Diseases’ was held at Rishabhdev on October 30-31, 2017. Ms Gazala Ansari and Shri Umang Chawhan from Vikalp Social & Charitable Trust, Nagpur, gave a lecture and demonstration on prevention and cure of various diseases like spondylosis, diabetes, heart, joint pains etc. They talked about the benefits of Naturopathy and Yogasanas in relation to cure and prevention of the mentioned diseases. There were almost 100 participants and everyone appreciated the programme.
Rishabhdev: Self Development Programme
'Speak What You Know' programme was held on October 6, 2017 and December 13, 2017 at Rishabhdev. The programme was attended by the officers and staff members. The programme encouraged the participants by giving feedback on the spot for further improvement in their presentation/s. Thereafter an extempore speech on current affairs was held and many members from the audience put their viewpoint on the subject, which was liked by all.
Rishabhdev: SA 8000:2014 Assessment Audit
Assessment audit of SA 8000:2014 for the first half of the year was held on November 23-24, 2017, at Rishabhdev. BSI auditors Shri Premanand Ramakrishnan and Shri Surinder Puri conducted the audit with the support of the concerned departments. During the audit, all the relevant areas were assessed and the observations were attended to by the concerned teams.
Rishabhdev: Volleyball Match for Staff
Staff Club, Rishabhdev, organized a Volleyball match for its staff from December 14-19, 2017. The final match was held on December 20, 2017. Team A won the match. Shri K B Khatod, COO awarded trophy to the winners and congratulated them.
Maral Sarovar: Workshop on “Leadership Multiplier”
Maral Overseas Ltd, Maral Sarovar, conducted a workshop on “Leadership Multiplier” by a renowned trainer and orator Shri Janak Mehta on November 30, 2017. Middle management staff attended the workshop and they found it very useful in terms of understanding how to manage people on a day to day basis.
Maral Sarovar: Yoga & Meditation class
Maral Overseas Ltd, Maral Sarovar conducted a 15 days Yoga & Meditation class from 17th November 2017 for its employees and their families at colony garden, Maral Sarovar. One of the renowned Yoga Guru Shri Kapil Mali from Swatantrayoga Organization, Maheshwar gave the yoga class. A large number of staff members and their family members reaped advantage out of this.
Maral Sarovar: Mock Drill and Firefighting Training
A special training on fire prevention and safety was conducted on November 17, 2017. This training programme was aimed at the staff, security guards and firefighters with the aim to familiarise them with the right methods of using and handling equipments. It was done through demonstration. The training session was held by Laxmi Fire Services and coordinated by Shri Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Welfare Officer.
HEG : Presentation Session for Managers
In the process of continuous Individual Development Plans which are prepared in-line with the needs and requirements of employees assessed through BEIs and HOD’s inputs, a lot of developmental activities were scheduled and carried out. One major essential skill for employees working as Managers and Section Heads is having good presentation skills. HR-L&D provided a platform to them by organizing a presentation session where the managers prepared and delivered presentations based on their department's specialisation. The next step in this drive will be to have presentations on the books distributed to them, which will serve three purposes. First, they will go through the books that focus on specific competencies required on their part in their day-to-day working, second, they will prepare and deliver presentations, which will improve their presentation skills, and third, the audience will be benefitted by knowledge sharing.
HEG : Creativity & Innovation Session & Workshop
The parameter which separates a successful organization from the rest over a period of time is its focus on creativity & innovation. We in HEG are committed to leverage our core-competence of creativity to enhance value to our customers, shareholders, employees & society.
HR L&D while contributing its part organizes refresher sessions on Creativity & Innovation on regular interval. One such session was conducted for our Managers/Section Heads as a part of their development program, where apart from activities they were given tips on improving abilities to observe things and apply reasoning, to put spotlight on problems rather than to hide them, so that solutions can be obtained from different perspectives also. The session was a success & got appreciated by seniors, also taking advantage of momentum HR-L&D conducted workshop on Creativity through utilizing internal resources.
HEG : Instant Recognition and Appreciation
In creating high performance work place, recognition is a motivating factor that provides employees with increased job satisfaction and encouragement to perform their jobs more effectively. HR L&D launched “Instant Reward Policy” back in 2013, where any exceptional work/special tasks performed by the employee or a team, is recognized and rewarded on the spot by plant Senior Officials. The last quarter (October-December 2017), 32 rewards were disbursed in various categories like Quality, Productivity, Cost, and Operations & Maintenance.
HEG: Workshops on Health and Well-being
A company is always as healthy as its employees. It can thus reap all the benefits, as a healthy employee will work with full engagement, high morale and reduced mental and physical stress level. HR L&D conducted a series of workshops on “Stress Management” where topics ‘How to avoid stress and manage work life balance’ ‘Hypertension’, ‘Diabetes’, ‘Common Life Threatening Diseases’ were covered. It was organized with the basic idea of how the employees can reduce health care costs, increase vitality and thus reduce absenteeism which could be a win-win situation for both employees and the company, and who better than a doctor himself can explain these topics best. Dr Narmada Patel stressed on the topics health and hygiene, self-control for ill habits of such as smoking and drinking, looking and feeling good and consistency in commitment towards health. Session concluded with the faith that all will embrace this discipline in their everyday life.
HEG: Technical Session on Steam Turbines
Learning & Development team provided a platform to CPP team for knowledge sharing and improving their technical skills in Steam Turbines Operations & Maintenance. This platform included mutual discussions and case studies reviews from different areas of the plants. Shri Shartendu Sharma, Dy. Manager (CPP), conducted the session. The programme was attended by Senior Officials and they appreciated the initiatives by emphasizing on increasing the frequency of such sessions.
Kharigram: GECC Meeting
On November 6, 2017, Group level Energy Conservation Committee meeting was conducted at Kharigram through CTSC. Employees from all RSWM Units along with BSL Ltd. were present. Dr S K Aggarwal chaired the meeting and an overall review of ECP 17-18 of all GECC Units, Compressed Air consumption in terms of CFM/1000 spindle, overall review of Humidification Power Consumption in terms of Kwh /1000, Spindle and other points related to Energy Conservation were covered.
Kharigram: Training on Life and Stress Management
A seminar on Life and Stress Management was organized on November 13-14, 2017. Dr Pankaj Shukla, a Life Management advocate from Being Capable conducted the sessions. A group of 80 staff members was covered in the two-day programme. During the seminar, topics that were covered were Lifestyle and Behaviour, Practical Relaxation Technique, Communication Skill, Working Together Skill, Art of Time Management, Diet Instruction etc. The programme was appreciated by all the participants.
Kharigram: Training on Fire Safety
A safety awareness training programme was organised for the staff by Shri Dileep Chourasia–Dy Manager-Safety, to educate employees on fire safety at workplace and fire fighting. He covered various points like machine safety, use of PPE’s and chemical handling.
