Message from Chairman

Dear All,

The Indian economy continues to face challenging times with the slowdown not showing any signs of abatement. The economy has been hurt by sluggish private consumption with new investments reducing to a trickle. The global slowdown and escalating trade tensions between US and China have also contributed to the economic downturn.

The global economy is showing signs of acute weakness and some of the leading financial agencies have warned of an impending worldwide recession. The major threat to the world economy, according to these agencies, comes from the escalating trade tensions between the US and China, the two largest economies of the world. UK’s economy is also facing challenges as its second-quarter GDP contracted because of uncertainty owing to Brexit. A threat of recession is also hanging over European economies. As far as India is concerned, the threat of recession is not imminent. However, the Indian government and other policymakers cannot afford to be complacent.

Letter from Editor-in-Chief

Dear Friends,

It gives me immense pleasure in sharing with you the new issue of Opinion, the quarterly newsletter, consisting of articles showcasing various activities undertaken by the employees of the LNJ Group from different plants spread across India.

As you know, the Indian economy is passing through trying times with many sectors showing signs of a slowdown and our group is not untouched from the repercussions of the economic downturn. Both the textile and GE industries are facing challenges arising out of both domestic as well as global factors. The rising trade tensions between the US and China have further added to the woes of the industry players.

However, I am delighted to see the passion and energy of our employees who are taking out time from their busy schedule to undertake cultural and other activities that not only showcase the positive traits of their overall personality but also throw light on the unexplored talent of their kids and other family members.

This newsletter encapsulates glimpses of all such activities- from school news to sports and cultural programmes- that play a crucial role in building social relations among our employees leading to better understanding and unity among them.
