Self-Motivation is the Key to Success

 

It’s important to keep yourself motivating constantly if you have fixed your eyes on achieving the goals of life and career. Motivation is essential as it keeps you going and makes you more determined to create the life you want to live. However, a pre-requisite for motivation is to believe that we have authority over our actions and our environment. In order to motivate ourselves, we must feel that we are in control. When people believe they are in control, they are more self-assured, try harder and find it easier to overcome setbacks.
 
Here’re some smart ways that will help you in self-motivation:
 
1. Set SMART goals
 
It has been observed that setting SMART goals is a great way to enhance your self-motivation. Therefore, when you set your goals, make sure they are:
 
• Specific
• Measurable
• Attainable
• Realistic
• Timely
 
2. Start small if big leads you to procrastination
 
If you find that a task is too big and it's leading you into procrastination, break it up into small steps and then take just one of them at a time to start moving forward.
 
3. Avoid people with a negative approach
 
Negativity is a dampener for motivation. Therefore, spend less or no time with negative people who always look at the dark or apathetic side of things.
 
4. Be constructive about failures
 
You should always be constructive about your failures and setbacks. When you stumble ask yourself: what is one thing I can learn from this setback? Then keep that lesson in mind and take action on it to improve what you do.
 
5. Compete in a friendly way
 
Healthy competition with colleagues is always beneficial. However, make sure that it does not lead to unnecessary acrimony. Those who are successful in life never hesitate in admiring worthy rivals and learning from them.
 
6. Don’t forget to take breaks
 
Working non-stop, without any break, can drain the daily motivation. According to a study, you should work for 45 minutes each hour and use the rest for a break where you eat a snack, get out for some fresh air or do a bit of stretching.
 
7. Regular workout
 
Work out is essential not only for keeping you physically fit but also for releasing your inner tensions and stress and making you feel more focused towards your goal.
 
8. Focus on meaningful work
 
You should always remind yourself of the reason why you doing a particular job. When you are doing meaningful work, you are more likely to find fulfilment and stay self-motivated.
